1. What originally brought you to yoga?
I first encountered yoga years ago when I was studying dance. I came back to yoga looking for a full-body activity that offered some of the physicality of dance. I originally came for the body, knowing there was a mind component; even though I didn’t know what that would entail. I just let the mental and spiritual aspects find me.

2. What keeps you coming back?
For me, yoga provides the link that aligns my ‘animal self’ and my ‘human self’. I am continuously surprised by what my practice does for me in mind, body and spirit. I love the connections that it fosters between people. Having a place where I can ground and find center is vital to me.

3. What is your favorite asana and why?
Savasana, because it’s the hardest one for me. I was never wired to sit still, so for me to transition from an hour of movement to laying down and letting go is a refreshing challenge.

4. What do you love about Seva?
The people here have been really good to me. Everybody in this life is on a journey; at Seva there is a feeling of mutual respect for one another’s journeys. There is a great amount of energetic space that we create within this physical space.

5. What do you bring off your mat from your practice?
Greater compassion for myself and others. Also, yoga has strengthened me physically and helped to lessen the pain I suffer due to old injuries.

1. What originally brought you to yoga?
Yoga was an option for gym in high school and I thought “heck yeah, I get to nap at the end!”  Traditional gym was not for me and I loved yoga- I’ve been studying and practicing for almost 10 years now thanks to that yoga option in school!

2. What keeps you coming back?
Yoga has prevented me from reoccurring injuries that I was prone to get as a runner.  Most importantly, it keeps my mind happy.

3. What is your favorite asana and why?
Parsva Bakasana (Side Crow) because it is really challenging for me and it’s the pose that I have worked on throughout teacher training.

4. What do you love about Seva?
The people!  Everyone at Seva- the teachers, the students and the desk staff are welcoming and knowledgeable.  (Also love the decorating- so inviting-great job Amanda!)

5. What do you bring off your mat from your practice?
Practicing yoga gives me a better attitude and outlook on life.  My boyfriend would say that I roll my eyes less when I practice yoga more often.

6.  Favorite Book
Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy

7.  Favorite Place to Visit
Colombia

8.  Food
Coffee flavored coconut ice cream- I’m actually not sure if it exists, but I can imagine it would be the best food ever.

1.  What originally brought you to yoga?
A Groupon. It started as just a way to exercise.

2.  What keeps you coming back?
You guys!  I’m obsessed!  Yoga is a great way to keep my mind, body and spirit healthy–one stop shopping.

3.  What is your favorite asana and why?
Ardha Chandrasana (Half Moon). It started out as an “impossible” pose that I dreaded.  Now I love the openness and expansion I experience in the physical posture, which of course follows me into life.  I still fall out of it sometimes, but the same applies in my life: just keep going and trying, and eventually you’ll soar!

4.  What do you love about Seva?
You guys! I love the instructors at Seva. I also LOVE that yoga is not just exercise here.  It’s a spiritual practice that’s great for the physical body as well.

5.  What do you bring off your mat from your practice?
So much that I had to write a whole blog about it!  Every day I’m grateful for the open heart I’ve found–a physical way to reorient myself by rolling my shoulders back and opening rather than resisting.  Yoga has truly changed the way I approach my life.

6.  Favorite Book
The Untethered Soul by Michael Singer

7.  Favorite Place to Visit
Anywhere that has water and sunshine!

8.  Food
I love food. I guess whatever I’m eating with good company. Especially on a patio! (Seriously, I love food!)
