Dom and Leslee

1. What originally brought you to yoga?
Leslee
My first exposure to Yoga was at Kalamazoo Valley Community College. I was taking General Ed courses there after High School and blindly enrolled in Hatha Yoga 101 with a wonderful teacher named Eunice Levy. I took two semesters with her and loved it but it was ten + years later that I reconnected with Yoga through Seva.

Dom
High Blood Pressure

2. What keeps you coming back?
Leslee
Yoga makes me feel strong, calm and connected…. It’s helped me learn how to let go of daily stress.
I never regret coming to class and always leave feeling happy and whole!

Dom
Yoga allows me to simplify my thoughts and focus my mind into the moment. It helps me relieve everyday stress.

3. What is your favorite asana and why?
Leslee
That’s a tough one. I would say any variation of Surya Namaskara. Because it keeps me super connected to my breath and when you go through the sequence with a room full of people it’s kind of magical.

Dom
Warrior 3….I have no idea why, but it’s my favorite.

4. What do you love about Seva?
Leslee
There is something for everyone at Seva! Each instructor brings a unique experience to the studio. And great music too 🙂

Dom
The instructors at Seva are energetic, passionate people. My fellow students are friendly and good natured. It is a place I go to feel better.

5. What do you bring off your mat from your practice?
Leslee
The more time I spend on my mat, I find the more patient and deliberate I am, off the mat whether it be on a project at work or just cleaning the kitchen. Yoga sort of wraps itself around you.

Dom
A broader healthier perspective.

6. Favorite Book
Leslee
Half Broke Horses by Jeanette Walls.

Dom
True North by Jim Harrison

7. Favorite Place to Visit
Leslee
I’ve been able to travel a bit but it’s hard to choose. I’ll say anywhere there’s fresh water, or fresh powder, good people and good music. 🙂

Dom
A little farm up in Hoxeyville, MI near Caberfae Peaks. My friends and family head up there almost every weekend in the winter to ski, eat and enjoy.

8. Food
Leslee
An unbreakable three-way tie. Peanut Butter, Fried Eggs & Avocado.

Dom
Soup….does not matter what kind, I celebrate the entire catalog.
